09 April 2021

On Monday March 1, Thun Equality was launched in an online event where she was named by God Mother Margareta Alestig, Chairman of the Board of Erik Thun AB. Thun Equality is the third product tanker, powered by gas, in a series of four E-class vessels being built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit B.V. Thun Equality will operate for Thun Tankers will sail under the Dutch flag.

Thun Tankers is part of the Erik Thun Group, a company owned by the Källsson family since 1938. For decades we have designed increasingly economic and enery efficient quality ships, using in-house knowledge to provide our customers with sustainable and cost efficient transport solutions. – Equality describes how we want to approach people and the societies where we operate. Diversity, Gender Equality and Inclusiveness are key in providing a sustainable future for the global maritime industry and our company, says Joakim Lund, CCO at Thun Tankers BV.

"The MF Shipping Group strives to increase the percentage of women within the shore based organisation and on board the vessels. We see it as our mission to attract and support more women and to promote more diversity within the maritime industry. Making a difference starts by stepping up and contribute to a change for a better future for all of us. No matter how big or small, every contribution counts!", adds Karin Orsel, CEO at MF Shipping Group, technical manager of the vessel.

The E-class vessels are a further evolvement of Erik Thun’s existing fleet and focus on efficiency, environmental care and customers’ needs has been essential when developing the new vessels. The vessels are built to the absolute latest design meeting and often exceeding existing and forthcoming regulations.

"Equality is a big part of our sustainability work, and it has been and will be a focus ahead. Today’s launching is a great example of our vision to be a sustainable Swedish partner over generations", says Johan Källsson, Managing Director at Erik Thun AB.
