On June 16 2021 the Paris MoU Committee published the most recent performance lists for flag States and Recognized Organizations. These lists took effect from the 1st of July 2021. The Dutch flag holds the 5th position on the global prestigious 'White List'.
The Dutch Flag has a consistent high ranking which is a testimony to the excellent safety and quality standards maintained by Dutch shipowners and seafarers.
A shipowner who is flying the flag of the Netherlands enjoys the best reputation in meeting highest environmental, social and safety standards. This assures a warm welcome in ports around the world and uninterrupted operational performance.
The Paris MoU is an organization of 27 participating coastal states in Europe aimed at eliminating sub-standard ships through a harmonized system of inspections: the Port State Control system.
The 17000 annual inspections are summarized into a White, a Grey and a Black List of ship's registers. The “White List” represents quality flags with a consistently low detention record - in 2020, only 39 flags made it to the White List. The Dutch flag ranks 5th overall, and 3rd within Europe.
