The registration and certification process is managed by the Netherlands Shipping Inspectorate (NSI) which is part of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
Ship surveys and certification are executed by seven authorised class societies.
