Launch of methanol-ready tanker Thun Resolve
On February 12 Erik Thun Group launched Thun Resolve (flying the Dutch flag) at the yard in Leer. The vessel is a methanol-ready tanker and is the newest in the group’s R‑class series. The launch was attended by IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez and Deputy Director-General for Civil Aviation and Maritime Affairs of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management Brigit Gijsbers.

Easymax 6 launched
On Wednesday 25 February, the latest vessel in Wagenborg’s successful EasyMax series was launched at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl. The EasyMax 6 (flying the Dutch flag) represents the next milestone in a programme that has become a symbol of Dutch maritime expertise, regional craftsmanship, and Wagenborg’s commitment to efficient and sustainable shipping.

From evaluation to action: Parliamentary letter outlining priorities Netherlands Maritime Authority
In August 2025 the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management has sent a letter to Parliament, detailing the first-year results of the Netherlands Maritime Authority (NLMA) and the Authority’s planned next steps. The NLMA was established to enhance the competitiveness of the Dutch shipping register and to serve as a central point of contact for the maritime sector. In 2024, an additional €1.3 million was allocated to support the NLMA as a collaborative body within the ministry.

The update reinforces compliance with safety-focused ice navigation practices and outlines procedures for participation in the winter navigation system.

Maritime Monitor 2025: Maritime sector remains vital for the Netherlands
On December 10 the 2025 edition of the Maritime Monitor was presented to Minister Tieman (Infrastructure and Water Management). The maritime sector accounts for more than 310,000 jobs in the Netherlands and generates over €94 billion in revenue. This is revealed in the Maritime Monitor and the Port Monitor, published annually on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
