On 30 May, the product tanker Thun Response (flying the Dutch flag) was successfully launched at the Ferus Smit shipyard in Leer. The vessel will join the fleet of Erik Thun AB / Thun Tankers and is the fifth ship in a series of eight vessels built according to the new R-Class design.
The R-Class represents a further development of the proven E-Class tankers, with a strong focus on resource efficiency, environmental performance and operational reliability. While maintaining the same principal dimensions as the earlier series, the design incorporates ten coated cargo tanks and has been developed to meet, and in several areas exceed, current and anticipated regulatory requirements.
The vessel has an overall length of 115 metres, a beam of 15.9 metres and a maximum draught of 6.95 metres. With a deadweight of 7,999 tonnes and a cargo capacity of 9,700 m³, Thun Response is designed for the transport of liquid cargoes in regional and international trades.
Built to Ice Class 1A standards, the tanker is suitable for year-round operations in the Baltic Sea. Propulsion is provided by a 1,950 kW main engine, supporting efficient and reliable performance across a wide range of operating conditions.
