Erik Thun launches Lidan
On Friday, June 28th, Lidan (flying the Dutch Flag) was launched at Scheepswerf Ferus Smit BV. The vessel is the first of the next-generation Lake Vanern Max. with the naming ceremony performed by Godmother Benita Skisser, accompanied by representatives from the yard, MF Shipping Group, and Erik Thun Group.

Muller Dordrecht proudly christened its newest tug
On Friday, June 28, Muller Dordrecht proudly christened its newest tug, En Avant 26 (flying the Dutch flag). As the second in a series of tugs designed for harbour and offshore towing, terminal support, escort, and firefighting duties, En Avant 26 represents the pinnacle of modern marine engineering.

Dutch flag reclaims 2nd position on Paris MoU's white list
On June 17 2024 the Paris MoU Committee published the most recent performance lists for flag States and Recognized Organizations. These lists take effect from the 1st of July 2024. The Dutch flag reclaimed the 2nd position on the global prestigious 'White List'.

Pilot project digital certificates for seafarers
Seafarers can now use digital certificates during this pilot. Last month, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, along with Kiwa, merchant shipping and fishing companies, and the maritime sector, started a pilot project to issue digital certificates of competency (CoC) and proficiency for tankers (CoP) to Dutch seafarers. The goal is to make certificate use easier and reduce regulatory pressure on the maritime sector.

Multratug welcomes new tug
Multraship Towage & Salvage held a Christening ceremony on 30 May to name their newest tug Multratug 35 (registered in the Netherlands) at their home port of Terneuzen, the Netherlands. The vessel is a Damen ASD Tug 3212. Multraship’s HR Manager, Mrs Chrétienne Huisman did the honours and wished the tug and her crews fair winds and following seas.

Queen Máxima christened Easymax vessels ‘Maxima’ and ‘Alexia’ during Delfsail
On 14 June, Her Majesty Queen Máxima christened Royal Wagenborg's Easymax vessels ‘Máxima’ and ‘Alexia’ (both flying the Dutch flag). The ceremony took place during Delfsail in the presence of 2,000 employees and guests.

Launch of Van Oord’s Offshore Installation Vessel Boreas
On 14 May 2024, Van Oord’s new offshore installation vessel, Boreas (flying the Dutch flag), was successfully launched at the Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. shipyard in China. The Boreas, equipped with a dual fuel engine set capable of running on methanol, is designed for the transport and installation of the next generation of foundations and turbines at offshore wind farms.

Thun Reliance launched
On May 3, the “Thun Reliance” (flying the Dutch flag) was launched at the yard in Leer, Germany. Upon delivery, the Thun Reliance will enter long-term employment with Preem. The vessel will be technically managed by MF Shipping Group and was built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit.

International Day for Women in Maritime
Today (18 May), we celebrate the International Day for Women in Maritime for the third time. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and Nautilus International spoke to two Dutch women at sea about their work in the maritime men's world and the usefulness of a special maritime women's day.
