From evaluation to action: Parliamentary letter outlining priorities Netherlands Maritime Authority

In August 2025 the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management has sent a letter to Parliament, detailing the first-year results of the Netherlands Maritime Authority (NLMA) and the Authority’s planned next steps. The NLMA was established to enhance the competitiveness of the Dutch shipping register and to serve as a central point of contact for the maritime sector. In 2024, an additional €1.3 million was allocated to support the NLMA as a collaborative body within the ministry.

he Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (Väylävirasto) has released the updated edition of Finland’s Winter Navigation 2025–2026 publication, a guiding document for maritime operators navigating Finnish and adjacent Swedish ice areas during the upcoming winter season. The publication, which is updated annually, contains general instructions and operational guidelines for winter navigation in Finnish waters covered by ice conditions. The update reinforces compliance with safety-focused ice navigation practices and outlines procedures for participation in the winter navigation system.

Vertom Quina launched

The maritime sector accounts for more than 310,000 jobs in the Netherlands and generates over €94 billion in revenue. This is revealed in the Maritime Monitor and the Port Monitor, published annually on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.

MULTRATUG 30 (flying the Dutch flag) was officially christened in Bourgas on November 14th. The 80-tonne bollard pull tug will operate with Bourgas Tug Service, Multraship’s Bulgarian subsidiar. Enhancing Multraship To'wage & Salvage's harbour and offshore towage capacity in the Black Sea region. As well as their capabilities in salvage and emergency response.
