The Dutch Ministry of Defence and Spliethoff, one of the largest shipping companies in the Netherlands, will work closely together.
State Secretary Barbara Visser today visited a Spliethoff vessel at Eemshaven in the Groningen province, that will transport defence equipment. The collaboration is part of a pilot which should lead to the Ecosystem Maritime Capacity. This partnership is all about innovation, mutual learning and the exchange of personnel and equipment.
As an organisation, the Ministry of Defence needs to become more strategic and agile and has a requirement for maritime transport capacity. For the national maritime sector, safety and the availability of suitably qualified and motivated professionals are important.
